This year, EERA will host a parallel session at the NWO NERA Energy Symposium 2025, taking place on 7 February in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Organised by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and the Netherlands Energy Research Alliance (NERA), the symposium will explore how to recharge the energy transition amid geopolitical turmoil and a congested power grid. Featuring workshops, presentations and panels, the event will serve as a platform for sharing the latest advancements in energy transition science.
EERA’s parallel session, scheduled from 1:45 PM to 3:00 PM, will focus on European cooperation in the energy transition. Henk-Jan Vink, EERA President, will open with insights into the Alliance’s role in driving pan-European collaboration in low-carbon research and innovation. Following this, Adel El Gammal, EERA Secretary General, will examine the policy landscape and geopolitical challenges shaping the EU’s energy transition. The session will conclude with a panel discussion moderated by Maria Luisa Fernandez Vanoni, EERA’s Communications and Outreach Director. Panellists include:
