Europe's triple challenge, one answer: Research-driven clean energy transition for decarbonisation, security and competitiveness
As Europe faces growing geopolitical uncertainty, increasing global competition and the urgent need to strengthen its resilience, the clean energy transition has become more than a climate imperative. Recent energy supply disruptions have highlighted the strategic importance of reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, while the global race for clean energy technologies has reinforced the need for Europe to maintain its industrial leadership. In this context, decarbonisation, energy security and competitiveness are not separate objectives, but interconnected priorities that require a common, research-driven response.
The 6th edition of the EERA High-Level Policy Conference will provide a platform for forward-looking dialogue on how low-carbon energy research and innovation can support Europe in addressing these challenges. Bringing together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders and think tank representatives, the conference will offer grounded, science-informed perspectives on the role of research in building a secure, competitive and decarbonised Europe.
This year's agenda will focus on three key themes:
How do we keep the energy system running while transforming it?
How does Europe build and keep a clean energy industry?
How do we prepare energy systems for shocks we cannot predict?
The conference will take place both in person and online. Participants are kindly requested to select the appropriate registration option according to their preferred mode of attendance.
