Acting as the main research coordinator, EERA was assigned a pivotal role in shaping the Strategic Research Agenda (SRIA) of the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP), one of the candidates for European Partnerships in climate, energy, and mobility under the Horizon Europe programme.
The Strategic Research Agenda of the Clean Energy Transition Partnership aims at boosting and accelerating the energy transition in all its dimensions to make Europe a frontrunner in energy innovation and eventually the first climate-neutral continent.
The development process of the research agenda entailed several stages. Once a first draft text was put together by Member States and Associated Countries representatives, EERA, alongside a diverse group of stakeholders involving among others SET Plan Implementation Working Groups, ERA-NETs, and EERA Joint Programmes, engaged in a collaborative process covering the challenges to be addressed to reach a socially just and climate-neutral energy transition.
Within this process, EERA acted as the main research coordinator, leading the writing process of five thematic input papers. The topics of the latter were predefined by the Member States and Associated Countries and covered the key priority areas related to the Clean Energy Transition in Europe. Acting as editors, EERA experts oversaw the whole process, demonstrating the potential of the EERA community to bridge research and policy in the scope of accelerating the Clean Energy Transition in Europe.
In order to ensure the continuous update of the CETP’s Strategic Research Agenda, an ongoing dialogue with Member States and Associated Countries is being held.
